How can I brush up on my college calculus?

calculus
Allison S asked:

I took a 200 level calculus class 2 1/2 years ago but I’m transferring colleges and this one requires two semesters of calculus for my major instead of one like my old school. I don’t want to take calculus over completely but I feel like I barely remember anything, and definitely not enough to jump into the next level of calculus. Is there something free and online that I can do to brush up on Calculus I topics?

What is the relationship between Calculus and Physics?

calculus
Carpe Diem (Seize The Day) asked:

How is the topic of physics and calculus related, and how do these topics depend on each other. For example, acceleration is taught in calculus even though it is a pure physics problem. What are some other instances in which these topics depend on each other? what topics? How exactly are they related?

I’ve noticed over several years, that even excellent math students find calculus and physics difficult, why do many find these topics difficult? Is it the mathematics or concepts that are hard to understand?

I thank all in advance. Thanks.

Do I absolutely need to know trigonometry and algebra before taking Calculus?

calculus
** * asked:

I took calculus in highschool, but completely forgot all math since I haven’t dealt with it for years. Is it absolutely necessary to retake/refesh my memory with trigonometry/algebra for a refresh of Calculus class?

In other words, how much of trigonometry is used in Calculus? I can’t remember.

How do you get into Geometry or Math Honors Class for 8th grade if you were in pre-algebra before?

algebra
+Revan+ asked:

I was in Algebra honors for a semester in 7th grade, but I dropped out. Then I took the honors test and passed the requirements for the grades and score. Also for my CST I received a 600 for math and a 93 percentile in Cat-6. How come I didn’t get in honors?

Why do you need to take calculus before getting a master’s degree in applied statistics?

calculus
KatGuy asked:

If I work on a master’s degree in applied statistics, I need to probably take 2 undergraduate calculus classes too. Why do you need to take calculus classes for an applied statistics program - do you really need to use calculus in the program? What’s the relationship of calculus to applied statistics?

What is the best online calculus tutorial which is more advanced and comprehensive?

calculus
stellar asked:

I am in college taking Calculus II and learning about Taylor series, convergence tests, remainder estimates, etc. etc. I am looking for an online site that can help me out, preferably with practice problems and solutions too. Comprehensiveness is a must, please don’t give me sites that are very simple and only list the theorems and that’s it. Thanks in advance.

What is a really good website or software package for learning Algebra through Calculus type stuff?

calculus
Rock Paper Scissors asked:

I am a college student taking Pre-Calculus and want to brush up (try and perfect) my algebra skills. I also want to have something that is more interactive to study pre-cal and calculus with.

I am a Pre-Engineering student, freshman.

I don’t mind repeated activities, especially if I am able to try out multiple stuff and see where I was wrong.

Basically anything that offers practice, especially if it includes interactive instruction to complement my college classes.

Thanks in advance.
